Independence Day Celebrated at Wellington

A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan High Commission Wellington to commemorate the 67th Independence Day of Pakistan in New Zealand. A significant number of Pakistanis living in Wellington, Palmerston North and the adjoining areas attended the ceremony.

On this occasion special messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out. High Commissioner H.E. Ms Zehra Akbari thanked the Pakistani community for their participation in the ceremony. She also briefed them on the recent developments in the country. She expressed hope that with determination and help of our internal strengths Pakistan will come out of the current challenges with success, glory and respect. She called upon the Pakistani community to play a meaningful role in promoting Pakistan’s better image in New Zealand.

After the ceremony light refreshments were served to the participants.
