Press Release
A terrorist attack took place at Army Pubic School Peshawar on Tuesday, 16th December 2014, in which 142 people among them 132 children below 15 were killed. In commemoration of the innocent lives lost in this horrendous terrorist attack, the Mission organized a candle light vigil and prayer service at the premises of High Commission on the evening of Thursday, 18th December 2014. Despite being a working day a fair number of Pakistani community members residing in Wellington participated in the event to express solidarity with the families of the victims. They all were in great shock and horror on the worst terrorist attack in Pakistan’s history.
The High Commission is observing a three day mourning period from 17 to 19 December 2014 during which national flag will be flown at half-mast. A condolence book has also been opened for signatures in the High Commission.
The Mission is also organizing Quran Khawani and Fateha prayers separately at the premises of High Commission on Sunday, 21 December 2014 at 15.00 hours.
