Donations for Rain/Floods victims in Pakistan

HIGH COMMISSION FOR PAKISTAN, WELLINGTON.

PRESS RELEASE

Subject:    Donations for Rain/Floods victims in Pakistan.

Torrential monsoon rains causing flash floods in Pakistan, especially Azad Kashmir and Punjab Province, have wreaked havoc. Many areas have been badly affected by rains resulting in flooding of millions of acres of land, while hundreds of thousands displaced and loss of hundreds of precious lives.

The federal and the provincial Governments have mobilized all national resources and established relief camps and have undertaken round the clock full-fledged Rescue and Relief Operations in the Affected Areas.

The scale of catastrophe necessitates immediate humanitarian assistance to meet the challenge to provide winter shelter, food, water, medicines and sanitation equipment to the affected people.

As the devastation caused by heavy rains/floods is much beyond our national resources, the Government of Pakistan has appealed to international community to provide assistance for the millions of people affected by relentless spell of monsoon rains.

The High Commission has set up a “Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund” to collect contributions. Donations could be deposited into the following NZ dollar account:-

Account title:        Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund Account No:         011823-0019313-02 Branch Code:         01-0519 Bank:                  ANZ, 82 Johnsonville Road, Johnsonville, Wellington-6037

The High Commission would request donors and the Pakistani diaspora to please donate generously to help affected people.
