on the occasion of
Music Concert
by
Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, classical and a sufi music maestro, stands tall amongst many artists who make Pakistan proud. He has not only captivated music lovers in the country but also made a mark around the globe. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has mesmerized millions with his enchanting voice and has made his own niche in the music industry, especially, Qawali (sufi music.)
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to his credit has scores of hits. In 2002, he worked with an American composer James Horner for the soundtrack of “The Four Feathers”. His vocals have also been featured for Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto”. He has been widely acclaimed in various countries including India.
Rahat’s family has a singular honour of performing Qawali for more than 600 years. He is a standard bearer of his illustrious uncle and mentor late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s epoch making legacy of classical singing and Qawali.
I congratulate Aariya Entertainment for inviting Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to New Zealand. It will give Aucklanders a rare chance to witness the maestro perform live. I wish Aariya Entertainment the very best and hope that the event will be a huge success.
I extend my very warm welcome to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and his party and look forward to a scintillating performance.
