Nomination of Urdu as a ‘Priority language’ to be taught in schools in New Zealand

Dear members of Pakistani Community in New Zealand,

The Education Amendment Bill aims to strengthen primary and intermediate schools’ access to language learning. If passed this will allow the Government of New Zealand to provide additional resources to fund professional development, language specialists, and online resources. Currently submissions are being accepted to compile a list of ten 'Priority languages'. If you want Urdu to be taught in schools in New Zealand please make a submission and encourage other community members to do so. If successful, this will ensure that schools which receive minimum of ten applications include Urdu as the second language option and arrange for an Urdu teacher. The closing date for submissions is Thursday, 28 January 2021. Click the link below to make a submission.
