Kashmir Solidarity Day (5 February)

To express solidarity and reaffirm Pakistan’s unconditional support to the Kashmiris in their struggle for right to self-determination, “Kashmir Solidarity Day” was observed by the High Commission. The ceremony was attended by a large number of Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora in New Zealand.

In his remarks, High Commissioner Murad Ashraf Janjua highlighted the significance of “Kashmir Solidarity Day” which is commemorated every year on 5th of February globally to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris living under the yoke of oppressive Indian regime.

The High Commissioner said that the observance of “Kashmir Solidarity Day” is a clear message to the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJ&K) that they are not alone in their just struggle for freedom. It is also a message to the Indian government that the world is not blind to the atrocities committed by it in IIOJ&K. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistan is exposing India and its rampant human rights violations in IIOJ&K on all forums.

A special documentary on Kashmir Solidarity Day and human rights violations in IIOJ&K was also played on this occasion. Special posters and photographs depicting the plight of Kashmiris were displayed in the Chancery building.
