The High Commission for Pakistan co-organized OIC Iftar dinner at the Parliament on 15 April 2021 with the OIC Member Countries (Diplomatic Missions based in Wellington).
High Commissioner Murad Ashraf Janjua gave the welcoming remarks on behalf of the Heads of Mission of OIC member countries. He stated the importance of Ramadan in Islam and talked about the spirit of this month.
Hon. Priyanca Radhakrishnan, Minister for Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities spoke on behalf of the Government of New Zealand. In her remarks she praised the role played by the Muslim community in New Zealand and highlighted her priorities for the inclusion of all ethnic communities in the decision-making process.
Hon. Dr. Megan Woods, Minister of Housing, Energy and Resources, Research, Science and Innovation, Hon. Damien O’Connor, Minister of Agriculture, Biosecurity, Land Information, Rural Communities, Trade and Export Growth and Hon. Aupito William Sio, Minister for Courts Minister for Pacific Peoples were also present on the occasion. A number of MPs also attended the dinner.
Among the guests were people from all walks of life and from all faiths. Food and drinks from the nine OIC member countries were served on the occasion.
